History

Ebenezer chapelPreviously known as Ebenezer chapel, and founded in 1816, PMCH was established in 1939 as part of the Methodist church's drive to make attendance at church more popular; particularly to those who were more accustomed to visiting cinemas and theatres. The interior was re-designed, with 'tip-up' seats and a central pulpit, to resemble a cinema.

Old Hall

This was a radical departure from the 'traditional' church and the intent was to provide a place with a 'cinema like' feel that would attract a younger generation. Christian films were regularly shown (the projection room is still there!)

New Hall

In every generation Central Hall has been extended and modernised to serve the people of Plymouth and now has a modern, multi-functional hall.
